Current food safety will not leave us unscathed.

The current food safety issue in the United States will certainly not leave the supplements industry unscathed. Less clear is whether the ultimate outcome will be positive or negative. Could this be the ingredient shakeout trigger industry has been needing for so long? Could this provide the much needed impetus for companies to look closely at buying and sourcing practices? Could this resolve the issue of how much ingredient testing is necessary by manufacturers once and for all?

Time will tell, but this issue is not going to go away lightly and without an ongoing impact.

Agreed, Len.

Some, but woefully few, companies are doing great work in raw material QA. Hopefully, this will spur more members of industry to develop and implement rigorous vendor quality assurance (VQA) programs to assure consistent identity, potency and purity of raw materials.

GMPs aren't the "answer". Discipline and common sense are.

Food safety in every country is a concern to all man kind. We need to have quality control. I am an organic farmer and have been one long before organic came into play-we never spray. How much toxic food can a person consume before you become part of the sickness industry. What goes in must come out in one form or another. If smoking can kill so can food.
